Mortgage

Your castle, your fortress, your kingdom

So, you say you are ready to purchase your own? Thinking about a mortgage lately? No longer wanting to live in your parent's basement or in some dinky little apartment with neighbors that exercise their vocal cords at 3 AM in the morning or children aspiring to be track and field enthusiasts in the place above you? We completely understand your motives and personal interest in wanting to learn more about home loans and mortgages.

Of course there is a lot of information to consume when it comes to the world of mortgages, but surely, we assume that you have all the time in the world to learn, right? What is it that I hear? No, you can't wait any longer? You say you are in a rush and can't sleep at night? What about that miniature Flo-Jo in the apartment above you? Ok, I think we get the idea.

To put it in a nutshell, a mortgage is basically a written document evidencing the lien on a property taken by a lender as security for the repayment of a loan. Unless you get paid a ridiculous amount of money at your job, most likely you are going to have to apply for a mortgage before you buy your home. Here are some things to keep in mind about mortgages:

Find how much you can borrow compared to your income and savings.
Research your interest rates. Perhaps a fixed-rate mortgage better suits you and your financial situation as opposed to a adjustable rate mortgage.
Do find out what your credit rating is and how that will affect the type of mortgage you take out or a specific loan you may qualify for.
Determine what sort of property you are looking for before speaking to a bank or mortgage company
Prepare a list of other loans you have and calculate how you stand financially

Mortgages

Owning your own home is a great thing, but paying high interest rates for it isn't. Do be selective when researching what type of mortgage will be best most suitable for you. Go on, now what are you waiting for? Little Flo-Jo up there sounds like she might be a gold-medal winner with her constant running back and forth and her pole jump attempts, grinding her mother's broom that she uses to pound your ceiling. Stop this insanity and learn more on how you can obtain your first mortgage!
